Deleting your data

Every route out, in one place.

If you have the app

This is the fastest way and it needs nobody's help: open Giftyr and go to Profile → Privacy → Delete account.

It happens immediately and cannot be undone. It removes your account, your wishes, occasions and circles, the images you uploaded, and your notification tokens, and it revokes the Sign in with Apple authorisation you gave us.

One thing deliberately survives. If you reserved a gift on someone else's wishlist, that reservation stops being linked to you but the gift stays marked as taken. If it flipped back to available, the other people giving gifts could work out that you had left — which would undo the privacy the app exists to protect.

If you can't reach the app

Email contact@giftyr.app from the address your account uses and ask us to delete it. We will confirm once it is done, and in any case within 30 days.

We ask you to write from that address because it is the simplest way to be sure the request is yours. If you can't, tell us and we'll find another way to check.

If you reserved a gift without installing the app

Reserving from a shared link sets up a Giftyr account for that email address, with the display name you entered, so the reservation stays yours. If you would rather that didn't exist, email us and we'll delete it — both the account and the record of the reservation link we sent you.

If you only joined the waitlist

Use the unsubscribe link at the foot of any waitlist email. That deletes your address on the spot; there is no account to remove.

What we keep, and for how long

The privacy policy sets this out per category. In short: deletion is immediate in the live system, encrypted backups age out on our provider's rolling cycle, and crash reports sit with Sentry for their retention period.

Your other rights

You can also ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or a portable export. Write to contact@giftyr.app and we'll respond within 30 days, usually sooner. If you'd rather talk to someone else about it, you can complain to your data protection authority — in Germany, the one for the state where you live.
